Safety & Environmental Officer

Our client is a global supplier of sustainable technology and services for mining, construction, power generation, automation, recycling and the pulp and paper industries.

They are currently seeking a Safety & Environmental Officer for an immediate start. Working on one of the largest projects currently operating in NSW the position is based 20 minutes south of the city.

You will be supporting the Safety & Environmental Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that the site complies with OHS legislation. You will maintain safety records, conduct site inductions, conduct risk assessments and investigate any incidents, dangerous events and lost time occurrences.

You must hold a minimum Cert IV in OHS and have experience working in the Construction industry, especially one with high hazard risks.

You will possess the following:

  • A current Workplace Health and Safety Certificate;
  • Experience in the civil construction industry, with a thorough knowledge of OH&S legislation and codes of practice;
  • A passion for Health and Safety and the Environment;
  • First Aid Certificate (highly desirable);
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good attention to detail and follow through skills.

Your role will include:

  • Implementing Safety, Quality and Environmental management systems on site;
  • Assisting site staff in the development and implementation of the Safety, Quality and Environmental processes;
  • Carry out regular safety audits on site;
  • Investigate accidents and provide incident reports;
  • Ensure plant and equipment compliance;
  • Work closely with the operations to assess areas of risk, eliminating these in conjunction with management through the recommendation of improved processes and practices
  • Maintenance of the OHS&E Management system;

This role also includes evening and night shifts, therefore, flexibility is a must.
