If you’re a university graduate or early-career professional interested in a career in recruitment, Six Degrees is interested in you!

Recruitment is emerging as an exciting, non-traditional and genuinely rewarding career choice for talented individuals standing at the beginning of their career journeys.

Benefits of working at Six Degrees

  • fast-tracking your career with multiple career pathways and rapid progression
  • playing a role in unearthing talent, shaping futures and connecting the best people with our clients
  • gaining industry exposure by working across multiple clients
  • being treated as an individual and valued as a star graduate
  • working in a fast-paced, dynamic and high-performance environment supported by a collaborative team and established frameworks.

Some organisations treat their graduates poorly by giving them long hours, low-level jobs and few opportunities for progression. At Six Degrees, our grads are given the star treatment: this means plenty of learning and development opportunities and meaningful, rewarding work that won’t bury you in bureaucracy. Read more about life at Six Degrees.

Graduate Careers at Six Degrees

Our 12-month NextGen graduate program is designed to immerse grads in a hands-on mix of on-the-job shadowing, classroom learning, coaching and mentoring where you will interact directly with people from across the business including our senior leaders and Managing Directors. The program enables grads to develop core recruiting skills, uncover new interests, and create a personalised pathway into an exciting and fulfilling career.

NextGen is all about exposure. Graduates are offered rotations across different business units, providing valuable experience and a taste of multiple disciplines, industries, clients, assignments and management styles.

Perks include a competitive salary and the chance to be part of a fun, innovative and high-performing culture. But it’s not all about the work: Six Degrees loves to celebrate success of all kinds, with activities ranging from social lunches, dinners, and even celebratory weekends away.

Working in recruitment comes with a high level of career satisfaction. The joy involved in offering a candidate their dream job is fantastic, as is the feeling of successfully filling a client’s talent gap.

Are you ready for nextgen?

We are looking for graduate program candidates with the ambition to succeed, energy to grow, drive to learn and a determination to challenge traditional thinking.

Ideally, you will be tertiary qualified, have practical industry experience in an aligned discipline, strong interpersonal and communication skills complemented by your life experiences, such as sporting, travel, or volunteer work.

What we are looking for in NextGen

Strong interpersonal skills

Building and maintaining long-lasting relationships is a huge part of what we do, connecting with a multitude of candidates and clients every day. You will also need to be a team player who can build strong relationships with your colleagues so you can become part of the Six Degrees family, developing strong bonds built on mutual trust and respect.

Life experience

Ideally, we seek graduates with life experience such as travel, entrepreneurial ventures, community giving or involvement in extracurricular activities. Since a mature approach is essential when dealing with people’s livelihoods and careers, we prefer candidates who bring a more rounded outlook through their life experience.

Thinking beyond yourself

You’ll also need to be able to empathise with your customers, so we value any ways you may be contributing to or supporting the community.

Balance and maturity: You don't need to be the last person to leave to make a good impression, but you do need a mature approach to balancing work-life. We encourage our people to have interests and involvement outside of work for your mental and physical wellbeing.
