New decade, same you?

By Natalie Rogers

Plant and a notebook on a desk reading 'new decade, same you?'

The bottles have been popped, and the new decade has begun. It’s so easy to be swept up in the “new year, new me” discussions that are inevitable each time the ball drops.

It is a great time to be trying to get stuck into New Years’ resolutions – whether that be hitting the gym (again!), learning a new language, or putting down the phone and picking up a book.

After a nice two week break spent with family, friends and switching off, it’s easy to forget all the reasons you had built up ready to get out of your current role and make the change that will really mean new year – new you.

Not sure if you’re ready to start the search for a new role? Here’s some signs that you’re ready to make the move:

  • Sunday night anxiety when thinking of the week ahead
  • Struggling to get out of bed in the morning
  • Difficulty focusing
  • Clock watching
  • Procrastination or inability to complete projects effectively
  • You’re bored or not feeling challenged
  • You’re spending your commute scrolling through job sites or dreaming of a tropical island
  • When talking about your work, you find yourself complaining about petty issues

Can you relate to this? Then you need to spend your January getting yourself job-ready. Although it can be a slower period in January, this is the perfect opportunity to update your CV, update your LinkedIn, plan your next move, and reach out to recruiters who are ready and waiting to have the initial conversation with you.

Although you might not be ready to leave right this minute, it’s better to think about what you want and have a conversation proactively so that recruiters can keep you in mind for any new opportunities. The first step is always the hardest, but we can take it together. Sign up for relevant job alerts today.
