BACKGROUND

Our objective was to source a new leadership team for a small Australian division of a US-listed multi-billion dollar business that develops and manufactures a range of hardware style products sold through retail channels for the consumer and industrial sectors. 

Our challenge was multi-faceted; the organisation in Australia was going through a significant period of change, moving its head office to a new state creating the need for a completely new leadership team. There was also the challenge of working with a US client unfamiliar with nuances of the Australian marketplace, with the expectations of a blue-chip organisation but locally only seen as an SME. Further, there were business critical roles that needed to be delivered concurrently which had very different functional expertise and candidate pools.

SOLUTION

To manage the task, we created an internal cross-functional project team to deliver the five executive roles, each focusing on a specific skill set to enable us to recruit the roles concurrently, yet working closely enough to ensure a standardised process, assessment and fit for the client. 

To ensure an understanding of the candidate pools prior to the longlisting and shorting stages and of salary levels and experiences compared to the US market, we spent significant time consulting and educating the client early in the process to provide data and insights into the marketplace. We also created engaging candidates packs to help us effectively ‘sell the story’ and engage with blue-chip candidates to educate them on working for an SME that is part of a global business.

OUTCOMES

Six Degrees successfully sourced the 5 roles and through robust and thorough sourcing methodologies, we were able to provide a mix of candidates with both consumer and B2B experience, along with blue chip and SME experience. Based on the outstanding success of the executive roles, Six Degrees has since been engaged to recruit the next tier of roles within the structure.
