About the company
Our client is one of Australia's leading retailers operating a large retail pharmacy network. They have a well-established and iconic brand that has an impressive and loyal customer base, good trading results and consistent store growth. Due to this consistent growth, they are currently looking for an Assistant Category Manager to join the merchandise team.

About the role
Reporting to the Category Manager, you will have full accountability for the effective execution of all merchandise activity within the category and assist with merchandise strategies to assist in the success and profitability of the category. You will be responsible for providing administrative support to the broader merchandise team and monitor sales and provide analytical reporting to assist the category manager to determine optimal range assortments.

Key Responsibilities
* Drive the process of category development schedule to ensure all deadlines are met
* Execute pricing strategy in system
* Assist in the preparation of in store promotions and catalogues
* Provide competitor analysis reporting
* Monitor and provide analysis to category team on performance of new brands
* Control stock file maintenance to ensure accurate trading terms and pricing data
* Support and maintain supplier relationships

Skills & Experience
* 2+ years' experience in a similar assistant category or buying role
* Prior experience in retail is a must, ideally in an administrative/category support role
* Excellent communication and relationship management skills
* Attention to detail and good time management skills
* Intermediate to advanced excel capability
