About the role

Reporting to the Head of Category Development Lead as a niche team of 3, the primary objective of this role is to be the channel lead for Coles. Working as a business ambassador to bridge the gap between internal and external functions. You will work closely with your category product team, marketing, and sales to drive business best practice. As a Category Captain for a variety of categories, you will work closely and spend a high portion of your week working with Buyers and External teams building actionable insights and business recommendations to drive equally beneficial objectives. You will be an agile people person, as you work across multiple categories across the person liaising with brand guardians and sales professionals to maximise category growth on shelf. The successful candidate will formulate this strategy by utilising shopper, consumer and market insights from multiple platforms and information sources, whilst also creating compelling customer presentations to engage key retailers and position the business a market leader in best practice category management and customer marketing.

Skills & experience

Success in this role will come from demonstrated experience as either a Category Manager or Assistant Category Manager from within the FMCG industry. You will possess strong working experience within the Grocery Retail landscape working with either Coles or Woolworths. You hold a high level of influencing and presentation skills, with strong commerciality in your decision making. Ideally degree qualified, you will demonstrate best practice financial & commercial acumen, and have a genuine passion for category, insights & activation management. You are hungry and driven to take that next step in your career, gaining greater responsibility and business ownership. You enjoy being customer facing and thrive on influencing stakeholders to see your train of thought.
