About Our Watch
Our Watch is a national leader of primary prevention of violence against women and their children.

Our vision is an Australia where women and their children live free from all forms of violence. Our role is to stop violence before it starts. We work to embed gender equality and prevent violence where Australians live, learn, work and socialise.

About the role
Our Watch has big ambitions for increasing its impact and awareness nationally, and our new Communications and Engagement team, led by our newly-created Communications and Engagement position, will play a key role in reaching new audiences with new messaging to create change for the better throughout Australia.

Working with a new Director Marketing and Communications, this is a unique opportunity to review and revise our corporate communications, and innovate our events and engagement program to reach more people in more places.

Utilising your expert communications and stakeholder management skills, you will ensure our messaging is clear, compelling and consistent, while also managing key initiatives such as our Ambassador Program to help position and extend our voice in the national conversation.

This role has two direct reports with scope to grow.

About you

  • A strategic thinker and a proactive 'doer', you enjoy creating and implementing innovative strategies, while also putting in place the processes needed to create a 'well-oiled machine'
  • Values-driven by nature, you will be proud to utilise your substantial communications, event and stakeholder management skills and ideas to connect more people with our message and our work
  • You love mapping and identifying stakeholder needs, and tailoring communications and events to their specific needs, while also creating a consistent narrative across everything we say and do
  • You love problem solving, and bring creativity to everything you do - your copy, communications tools and platforms, and ways of working
  • You have proven experience in leading and managing teams, including the ability to build team commitment. Experience leading teams through change and/or innovation (advantageous)
  • While not necessarily from the prevention sector, you understand Our Watch's vision and mission, and you can see how this will motivate you to help grow Our Watch's reach, awareness and engagement.
