Our Client

Our client is a government funded group that have been brought together to support the G20 with driving their agenda on sustainable infrastructure development through the delivery of a number of key programs. With a global presence and two head offices, one in Sydney, they provide data, insights and best practice, working towards creating a common language on infrastructure. They do this through their strategic partnerships, delivery of events, thought leadership programs and tools to support the G20 as a dedicated entity.

The Role

A key role has come up in their Sydney office for a Data Analyst to support the group locally and globally. With responsibility for collecting, collating, and consolidating large amounts of structured and unstructured data into usable formats, you will use data analytics and machine learning techniques to derive insights and application. Working with unclean data in many instances, you will use your skills to 'clean' the data, pulling it together into workable formats, researching and looking at leading indicators to then do the modelling and provide practical insights and tools to decision makers.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have a proven track record in a Data Analyst or Data Scientist position and will be looking for an opportunity to step into a role that affords you broad company exposure both locally and globally. Degree qualified in Computer Science, Engineering or Statistics/Mathematics, you will have a strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, probalistic models and/or statistical modelling approaches. Ideal technical knowledge is as follows:

  • Working knowledge of databases such as MySQL, No SQL with the ability to write queries
  • Working knowledge of AWS or other cloud environments
  • Use of coding languages R or Python would be advantageous
  • Track record of using open source or BI tools for reporting

As you will be working with senior stakeholders globally, the willingness to attend occasional meetings and calls outside of standard business hours is a prerequisite.
