Director - Major Gifts

Location: Inner Suburbs Brisbane, Queensland
Job Type: Permanent / Full Time

My Client:

Working for a diverse organisation with inspirational foundations and a respected legacy, you will be responsible in developing a Major Gifts relationship management plan with the objective of securing Major gifts through identifying and cultivating relationships with supporters.

This role works with a high level of autonomy and reports to the Executive Team. You will work collaboratively with other members of the fundraising team and build effective relationships with other leaders and staff across the organisation.

The Role:

  • Supporting relationships managers to qualify and develop a caseload of Major Gift Supporters
  • Develop individual Major Gift Supporter prospect plans employing a range of cultivation strategies to build and maintain effective and lasting relationships
  • Monitor and evaluate the success of relationship management activities to learn and adapt strategies
  • Prepare comprehensive briefs and proposals that align with Major Gifts supporter's interests and funding requirements
  • Lead and support others to negotiate and secure income from Major Gift Supports
  • Manage direct mail, supporter calling, website and social media
  • Contribute content to a quarterly Major Gift Supporter marketing
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders


  • You are highly disciplined and organised in the way in which you are operate. You are effective and efficient with both your processes and your time, and can inspire good operational practice in the team around you
  • Develop and build on relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Whilst having an extensive network is a "nice to have", the passion and ability to network is essential
  • Drive all aspects of the giving cycle, but more importantly understand and influence the customer journey throughout this cycle
  • Identify opportunity for new supports; nurture and steward relationships; effective follow up and aftercare
  • Great understanding of the not for profit sector
  • You are a career fundraiser and recognise the key skills and intricacies required to be effective
  • Relevant studies and memberships
