About the Company

This business is the sole manufacturer of plastic (polyethylene & polymers) in Australia. This is a large-scale major hazard business located in the western suburbs of Melbourne. This business is seeking a number of E&I Engineers to join their team for an upcoming largescale project.

About the Role

Reporting to the Turnaround Manager, this E&I Engineer will need to have experience across must of the following: transformers, switchboards, high voltage motors, programmable logic controllers, lighting, personnel protective devices, asset protective devices and safe electrical work practices. HV experience is preferred but not essential.

Skills & Experience

This is an exciting and integral role within the business for future growth and your experience and skill set will include the following:

  • To provide specialised technical expertise on the Altona High and Low Voltage Electrical Supply Systems, so that world standard KPIs can be met operating this equipment in terms of safety, throughput, machine availability and maintenance costs.
  • Troubleshoot the operation and maintenance of large, complex, high-tech equipment. It involves the technical mentoring, coaching and development of plant Instrument & Electrical Engineers across all Altona plants.
  • Recommending training of dual traded maintenance technicians, plant operators and generalist engineers in the field of high and low voltage distribution and use and the 66kV substation that is separate from either plant infrastructure.
  • To develop and maintain clear strategic Altona wide electrical improvement plans, aligned with business and capital investment plans, out to about a 10-year time horizon.
  • Coach, mentor and ensuring availability for team members to seek support
  • Project management of large projects requiring specific electrical know-how and experience
  • Sponsor technical initiatives, and input to organisational priorities.
  • Mediate and coordinate improvements in electrical work practices involving trade union officials and OH&S representatives.

Key attributes required:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering which is acceptable to the Washington Accord University list.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance, design, commissioning. Chemicals, oil and gas or petrochemical industry would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in project managing Low and High Voltage installations would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of statutory regulations, industry practices and standards.
  • Experience rebounding from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations
