The Role:

The Executive Director leads the Strategy and PMO team and drives the development of investment policy, investment strategy and attraction functions to facilitate, promote and coordinate investment opportunities, including the delivery of the Treasurer's Engagement Program.

The key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert strategic and authoritative advice to key stakeholders, on investment attraction initiatives, identification of key investment opportunities, strategies and proposals, taking into account government priorities and objectives for the community.
  • Develop and implement investment policies and initiatives (and associated frameworks) for Queensland and an investment engagement plan to attract private sector investment projects to Queensland.
  • Identify opportunities to attract private sector investment projects to Queensland. Promote and raise awareness of Queensland as an investment destination through coordinated engagement activities.
  • Provide researched insights and reports to the Investment team executive on investment attraction strategies, including funding programs, being adopted by other jurisdictions.
  • Develop networks and manage key relationships across government agencies to progress the Investment strategy and agenda including delivering the Investor Taskforce program.
  • Manage and oversee the governance arrangements (including program data) for prior, existing and new investment initiatives to ensure timely, comprehensive and accurate reporting.
  • Represent Treasury in forums and external events to promote new opportunities for economic development for Queensland.

What it takes to succeed in this role:

  • significant expertise and knowledge in providing robust advice on investment opportunities and formulating investment strategies
  • strategic leadership, business case development and negotiations across government and industry to advance the commercial interests of the State in partnership with the private sector
  • high-level political acumen
  • significant experience across the public and private sectors with a strong background in navigating and managing highly complex stakeholder engagement and relationships, strategy and policy implementation, and service delivery
