About the company

A well known Australian food business that is both a major supplier to the local market as well as an exporter, this company has deep ties to regional communities having operated a site network in country Australia for decades. They now seek an interim Site Manager for two of their key production sites in regional VIC and NSW.

About the role

This is a typical Site Manager position providing day to day leadership while a permanent hire is made for the same role, the intention being that bringing someone in on an interim basis will ensure continuity of operations and that the best possible handover is afforded to a prospective new hire. The two sites are high volume milling and blending operations and also includes vertically integrated logistics plus coordination with third party fleet, the role is also a key member on the leadership team working closely with the commercial function to oversee volume, service and supply, as well as recipes and their cost impacts. As the role is regionally located, we are either seeking someone local to Echuca, Shepparton or Bendigo, or someone who is able to drive up from Melbourne and stay on a week to week basis.

About you

We're seeking an experienced manufacturing leader who is available for an interim role for at least 3 months:

  • Degree qualified (engineering, manufacturing management) or relevant professional experience
  • Experienced at the Production Manager level or above, ideally having managed one or more full sites
  • Broad product and process experience so as to quickly understand how these sites operate
  • Strong production management skillset and commercial acumen

Why apply?

This position would be well suited to someone who is in between permanent positions and wants some flexibility while they search for the right role, or for someone who has moved into contrating and consulting opportunities from an operations background. These sites have established team members who are highly engaged and proactive - you would be supported by the Director of Operations who is credentialed and highly experienced in manufacturing. You will also be provided with accommodation if you are commuting to the region on a weekly basis, and the daily rate is flexible to meet your skills and experience.
