Our client is a successful, privately owned Australian organisation that has been supplying the nation's retail, healthcare, government and hospitality industries for over 60 years. Headquartered in Melbourne's inner suburbs, they have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced business manager to join their leadership group in the newly created role of Operations Manager.

About the Role

Reporting through to the Managing Director and leading a team across sales, administration and logistics functions, the Operations Manager is a high-profile position that will be responsible for a range of strategic and day to day business activities including:

  • The development of a high performing team across multiple departments, including all recruitment of staff, training and development, and retention strategies.
  • The continued growth of the business through new customer acquisition and improved market share, while delivering first class customer service through logistics and after sales service.
  • The development of budgets for the key functions of sales, logistics and administration and, in conjunction with the Managing Director, additional functions such as spare parts and after sales servicing.
  • Leading key projects around the improvement of business systems and processes and, in particular, the identification a new companywide ERP system that will be used for finance and customer relationship management purposes.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will be an individual with a track record of success in commercial and operations management in both large and small enterprises. You will have worked for organisations supplying goods and services to other businesses and understand the complexities of multiple sales channels and an after-sales service offering. A strong leader of people, you will be able to build internal and external relationships quickly and know how to get the best out of your team. You will be internally motivated, enjoy working autonomously and have first class communication and negotiation skills.
