About the role
As a Product Manager you will report directly to the Buying Manager and have two direct reports. You will support the achievement of the brand vision to deliver the right product, price and in store / online experience to achieve profitable growth within the category. You will be an integral part of the greater buying team, leading innovation across the department and work alongside an established design and buying team to inspire newness and a commercial offering for their savvy customer.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Drive our product offering - Design to ensure fabrics and style details are consistent with our brand vision
  • Construct a commercially balanced range
  • Work with Design & QA to ensure best fit, consistency of fit and best possible quality of fabric, trim, make and finish
  • Drive commercial decisions throughout the development process of a product with respect to delivering the most commercial style
  • Planning, selecting and purchasing the range, mix and quantity of merchandise according to OTB, Option Plan, Styling Brief, trends and customer demands
  • Proactively drive the approval time lines on lap dips, strike offs, trim and bulk fabric confirmation
  • Be technically minded and across all aspects of Denim fits, finishes, colour and labelling
  • Ensure all lab dip/strike offs are approved in line with desired look
  • Ensure a clear and commercial price architecture which drives maximum sales and profit for the business
  • Ensure category delivers innovation, speed to market and calculated risks in new trends
  • Ensure all department financial parameters and targets are achieved
  • Trade and optimise the department, in collaboration with the Buying Manager and Planner
  • Monitor production progress against department critical path
  • Negotiate and confirm individual product lead time's with suppliers
  • Follow up suppliers for initial costings and negotiate accordingly
  • Competitor Analysis

Skills and Attributes:

  • Qualification in Fashion industry / exposure to accessories preferred
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Fashion Buying role within Denim
  • Exposure to managing OTB, aged inventory and sales analysis
  • Experience working in a major clothing retailer or manufacturer
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word) and fashion related software
  • Understanding and solid interpretation of global trends
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • High level of attention to detail
