About the Role

The Production Coordinator (Fabrication) role looks after the production activities in the fabrication area. This is a hybrid role where you will be on the floor half the time (providing additional direction to the fabrication team), and then behind a desk the other half (interpreting drawings, planning, reviewing, monitoring budgets and plans). This role acts as the liaison between other departments to make sure there is a clear flow of information and direction so that all manufacturing plans are aligned within the business. Understanding and reporting back to the Production Scheduler around date management and cost management and making sure all parts, materials and scope reference information are available for the manufacturing team. This role is all about making sure the quality requirements for the products are there. Understanding the drawings, materials and processes involved, elements of rework, marking sure parts and materials are ready to go, managing the overall labour output for this section of the factory.

  • Material take-offs and attain quotes
  • Read and interpret manufacture / fabrication drawings
  • Provide quality guidance around welding and fabrication techniques
  • Review and monitor cost to budgets
  • Utilise an ERP system to create routes and production orders.
  • Produce purchase requestions.

This role is based in Somersby, NSW - on the Central Coast.

Skills and Experience

  • Full Australian Work Rights.
  • Must have previous experience and understanding of metal welding fabrication manufacturing processes. The ability to create, modify and develop welding processes would be ideal for this role.
  • Previous experience working in a heavy industry, fabrication type environment would be highly regarded (machine manufacturing, ship building, workshops, any large/complex component manufacturing site would suit etc.).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good with computer systems and interpreting technical documents.
