This is an innovative, well established and well recognised food and beverage manufacturer with operations based in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. Always seeking opportunities to transform their business, they have identified improvements across their engineering function. Where in the past they had previously utilised external suppliers to deliver capital projects on their behalf, they are now looking to take this on internally and have created this role in order to do so.

About the role

The Project Engineer is responsible for the end to end engineering and management of a broad range of capital projects generally as little as tens of thousands of dollars through to multi-million dollars in value. Given this will be the sole Project Engineer on site, you could be working on anything from a safety project, to a new product integration, a capacity expansion, a machine upgrade, an asset replacement or more or less any other type of manufacturing capital project you can imagine. Early management is a key focus for this new role in taking a customer focus and ensuring a good handover to operations and maintenance, and that the best possible busness outcome is achieved for the capital being invested.

About you

The role is at the early-mid career level and requires some experience in manufacturing capital project delivery:

  • Relevant engineering degree (likely mechanical or chemical, possibly electrical or mechatronics)

  • Background in a relevant manufacturing industry (food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical)

  • Experience working on capital projects

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills - focus on early management, strong negotiation and understanding of user requirements

  • Flexible and adaptable, able to think on your feet

  • Capable communicator whether speaking to an operator or an executive
