This Australian food manufacturer is well known, with both their own brands and private label products that can be found prominently displayed within the major retailers Coles and Woolies. They operate a plant with both fully automated and semi-automated production at their site based in outer South Eastern suburbs Melbourne. As part of their transformation journey and a new structure, they are seeking a safety professional to work on delivering their established safety strategy.
About the role
The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for delivering the objectives of their established safety strategy. Under the direction of the Site QSE Manager you'll maintain good safety performance and drive incremental improvement. You'll work on maintaining the incident and near miss register, conduct incident investigations, safety training and risk assessments, manage monthly safety meetings, manage environmental hazards and near misses, provide recommendations on how to improve safety performance, and work closely with the production and operations team to reduce the incidence of hazards, injuries and near misses.
We're looking for the following:
- Relevant tertiary degree
- Further training in health and safety
- Experience in a manufacturing based safety position
- Proactive and assertive approach to safety
- Strong communication and influencing skills
