About the role

This role is an Engineering role that sits within the innovation team. Primarily, this role works between R&D / innovation and the factory - it has ownership of key stages in the innovation stage gate process, conducting feasibility studies, risk assessments, and scaling up innovations such as new products, extensions and modifications, packaging format changes and new materials to the factory. Where this results in capital expenditure being required, you would support business cases and contribute technically to the selection of new equipment, as well as supporting with commissioning and validation of machinery. You would also develo training material such as SOPs, and delivering training to manufacturing associates and shift leaders. You will also be able to work on improvement projects where increasing product quality or reduction in waste (for example) could improve overall efficiency and performance.

About you

We're looking for a mid-senior level person who understands how product and process come together, and how to balance innovation deliverables with manufacturing practicality through compromise. The likely background is having worked as an Engineer, or possibly an R&D/NPD Technologist within the FMCG industry.

  • Relevant tertiary degree (Engineering or Food Science likely)
  • Background in a relevant FMCG industry (Food, Beverage, Dairy, Personal Care)
  • Understanding of the NPD stage gate process, delivering innovation projects
  • Experience scaling product and packaging changes up to factory, commercialisation
  • Experience supporting capital projects, particularly business case and commissioning
  • Strong grasp of management of change in the factory environment

Benefits

If you're able to consider a 12 month contract (that has a good chance of going permanent) and you think you have the right kind of background for this role, it is certainly one that you should consider. This is a blue chip company that is delivering major transformation, and is offering a role that is heavily involved in important changes within both product and fatory - therefore this is a high visibility position in a truly global company that has the scale and structure to support ambitious career aspirations both locally and overseas. This is not a day to day role, it has a good mix of strategy and tactical delivery, where every day will be different than the last.
