At a local level, they work in partnership with hospitals, clinics, universities and community health services.

About the role
Reporting to the Executive Director, Engagement & Advocacy, you will build the engagement function to support the work of research, operations, advocacy and policy, and develop their approach to engagement, stakeholder relations, advocacy, partnerships and digital content and strategy.

Overseeing three teams - Communications, Advocacy & Partnerships, and Digital - you will be responsible for ensuring the voices of those most marginalised shape the advocacy, government and stakeholder relations efforts and impacts.

  • Lead the development and execution of advocacy strategy, in partnership with key internal stakeholders, the Executive Leadership Team and the CEO

  • Lead the strategic engagement with peak sector organisations and other key stakeholders

  • Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance the organisation's brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities; and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences

  • Oversee the strategy, execution, analytics and implementation of all digital communications and multi-platform content

  • Drive strategic reforms in business practice to improve the delivery of services, projects and programs

Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will meet the following criteria:

  • Formal tertiary qualification in Public Relations/Communications, Business Communication, Public Policy, Community Engagement or related field

  • At least 10 years of experience in the non-profit, for purpose or government sectors driving projects to achieve systems change, with experience in a senior leadership role managing a large and complex team

  • Proven track-record in successfully developing networks and relationships with key stakeholders including within the mental health or health sector, media, politicians and government agencies

  • Experience developing and managing advocacy efforts to influence policymakers, NGOs, and other external stakeholders.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to analyse and articulate complex concepts and communicate them to a variety of audiences

  • Effective as a collaborator in complex internal and external organisations

  • A deep understanding of both traditional and digital media, with established media networks and an ability to proactively identify news and content opportunities
