Technical Advisory Committee Member: Energy Safe Victora

About the role:

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning is seeking expressions of interest for the Technical Advisory Committee for Energy Safe Victoria. Six members and a chairperson will be appointed for a term up to three years, proposed to commence in October 2021.

Members of the Technical Advisory Committee must be able to represent the wider interests of their sector or the Victorian community. The Technical Advisory Committee will consist of eight members:

  • An independent Chairperson
  • A Business appointment (Electricity)
  • A Business appointment (Gas)
  • An Employee appointment (Electricity)
  • An Employee appointment (Gas)
  • A Community appointment (Electricity)
  • A Community appointment (Gas), and
  • An Energy Safe Victoria Commissioner as non-voting member.
Members must be able to meaningfully contribute to the Technical Advisory Committee's purpose in providing high-quality and sound advice to Energy Safe Victoria on regulatory matters.

Who we're looking for:

Members will have a technical background or expertise in the energy sector. Proficient knowledge in one or more of the following areas is essential:

  • network energy safety
  • energy equipment and appliance safety
  • safety of energy work
  • energy efficiency
  • compliance with safety, and
  • advice on energy safety for the community.
Experience in energy, regulation, economics, law or community safety will also be highly regarded.
