Transport Manager

Position Objective

To co-ordinate and facilitate all aspects of in-bound & out-bound transport movements for the site in order to meet the demand for supply placed by the Inventory team in accordance with the customer service offer. This includes oversight and responsibility for scheduling all freight movements (in & out) and facilitation of payments to outbound freight vendors

Key Duties:

  • Ensuring current supply agreements / contracts exist for all freight vendors

  • Facilitating purchase orders, goods receipts and invoice payments for outbound & inbound freight

  • Weekly/monthly meetings to review providers performance in accordance with agreed contractual terms

  • Construction and maintenance of the sites transport plan

  • Timely completion of daily health check/CSA tasks to ensure timely despatch and update of billing and transport cartage payments

  • Accommodation of all CoR requirements in transport planning considerations

  • Identify and manage safety & health issues within supply chain area

  • Support a harmonious work environment & positive culture & Support activities that encourage a 'service excellence' culture

  • Participate in all Root Cause Analysis & Coach others to develop skills in a team orientated environment

  • Duties may be varied from time to time consistent with the employees training and skills and such varied duties are to be performed to standards, which will be specified as required

  • Interstate distribution centre managers & intrastate branch controllers

Requirements:

  • Track record of successfully managing operational environments through change

  • Demonstrated ability to understand Supply Chain as a service provider, responding to market needs and delivering services that support differentiation and price premiums

  • Knowledge of logistics industry structure (e.g. outsourcing, 3PL, contracting etc.)
  • Demonstrated track record of operational & continual improvement using ISO or equivalent principles

  • Knowledge of best practice in supply chain, sales & marketing functions
  • Compliance with legislative requirements (e.g., CoR, Trade Practices Act)

  • SAP and WMS experience

  • Results focused (achieves targets) & Self-motivated / autonomous
