An important conversation on mental health

conversation-mental-health

From Covid Brain to Re-entry Syndrome and Post Traumatic Growth – our latest session with Beyond Blue CEO Georgie Harman covers a lot of ground on mental health. Six Degrees Executive CEO Suzie McInerney asked Georgie about a host of interesting aspects of mental health which yielded many interesting insights.

As lockdowns and restrictions ease across most of Australia, the conversation delved into the impact of changes experienced from the pandemic and the anxiety held by many about the future and a return to some sort of normality.

Georgie Harman reflected on her own experience with mental health and provided advice on sticking to wellbeing strategies, managing adversity, and ways to seek support.

As a specialist recruitment agency speaking to hundreds of job seekers and employers every day, Six Degrees Executive has experienced a unique perspective of major career and life changes over the last 18 months or so – seeing shifting work-life priorities, leadership styles, ways of working and importantly, increased consciousness and support of mental health and wellbeing.

Participants asked Georgie a range of interesting questions - from advice for leaders and workplaces to the insurance implications of disclosing mental health issues. We also explored the audience’s biggest concern or fear about the return to normality, with readjusting work-life priorities, loss of flexible working, and health and safety concerns being top of mind for most. Feeling stressed or exhausted and uncertainty were also common concerns for many.
