National Operations Manager - Franchising
| Location: | melbourne |
| Salary: | Salary + Super + Bonus/Commission |
| Job Type: | permanent |
| Contact: | Etienne Pommey |
The Organisation
You will be working for a well established national organisation, supporting a diverse network of independently operated businesses across metro, regional, and remote Australia. Following a period of significant transformation and restructuring, the business is now focused on strengthening engagement across its network. This position sits on the Senior Leadership Team and has been created as part of that renewed investment into the customer experience, recognising the importance of maintaining strong relationships, engagement, and support across the network. The organisation is viewed as a market leader within its sector and places strong importance on maintaining a practical, and people-focused approach.
The Opportunity
The National Operations Manager will act as the key conduit between the business and its national network, ensuring businesses are supported operationally, commercially, and strategically to maximise engagement, retention, and long-term growth across the network. This is a highly relationship driven leadership position requiring someone who can build trust quickly, communicate with nuance, and operate effectively across a broad and diverse customer base. The role will focus on understanding how franchises are operating day to day, identifying where support is required, and ensuring the business is delivering meaningful value through its tools, programs, technology, marketing initiatives, and operational support offerings. The successful individual will play a key role in rebuilding engagement across the network following a broader period of business transformation. This role requires a highly visible and hands-on approach, balancing strategic oversight with practical operational support across multiple areas of the business. Based from South Melbourne with hybrid flexibility, the role will also involve national travel across Australia to maintain strong engagement and relationships with franchisees.
Skills and Experience Required
You will ideally come from a franchise, retail franchise, membership, or multi-site operational environment, with strong exposure to owner-operated business models and a practical understanding of how these businesses function day to day. Experience operating within franchise-style frameworks, including exposure to member agreements, compliance, and governance structures, will be highly regarded. You will be someone who is operationally credible, commercially aware, and highly relationship focused, with the ability to build trust and influence across a broad stakeholder group. Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence will be critical, alongside the ability to adapt your approach depending on the individual and business context. Importantly, this role requires someone who is hands-on, proactive, and comfortable operating without significant administrative support. The successful person will need to be capable of balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day operational engagement across the network.
