Product Designer

Location: gold-coast
Salary: Competitive
Job Type: temporary
Contact: Alexandria Craig
Six Degrees is excited to be partnering with a fast-paced, creative and highly collaborative merchandising business to recruit a Graphic Designer for a 12-month contract position.

Based on the Gold Coast, this business works across apparel, activewear, promotional products and branded merchandise, partnering with clients to bring product concepts to life from initial visuals and presentations through to technical production and final delivery. This is a hands-on role within a small, close-knit team where design, production and commercial delivery work closely together. It is a great opportunity for a designer who enjoys variety, detail and seeing their work move from concept through to finished product. The role will support the team during a maternity leave period, stepping into a broad graphic design and production-focused position. Working closely with Production and the wider team, you will support day-to-day design requirements across apparel, merchandise, presentations, tech packs and print-ready artwork.

The role will initially be three days per week, onsite in the Gold Coast office, with the potential to increase to five days depending on business needs. An immediate start is preferred to allow for a strong handover.

Key responsibilities
  • Creating visuals and mock-ups for apparel, activewear, merchandise and promotional products
  • Preparing custom client presentations, including product range concepts and branded merchandise options
  • Producing detailed tech packs for offshore factories, including sizing, fabric details, trims, decoration placement, labels, swing tags, poly bags, barcodes and shipping marks
  • Preparing accurate artwork and print-ready files, including for in-house screen printing requirements
  • Working closely with the production team to ensure specifications, files and supplier information are accurate
  • Supporting quality control by checking incoming product against approved tech packs
  • Assisting with warehouse-related design requirements, including stickers, barcodes and pick-pack face labelling
  • Using existing templates, guides and process documents to support a smooth transition and consistent workflow
About you
You will be a strong Graphic Designer with strong technical design skills, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to work in a busy, hands-on environment. You will bring:
  • Strong Adobe Illustrator skills, particularly across artwork, tech packs and production files
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop for basic photo manipulation, product recolouring and presentation visuals
  • Experience creating or working with tech packs, ideally across apparel, fashion, activewear, merchandise or promotional products
  • An understanding of fabric compositions, decoration methods, printing, embroidery and how different techniques work across materials
  • Experience preparing files for print, with screen printing exposure highly regarded
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to ask questions, clarify information and work closely with others
  • A proactive, mature and detail-oriented approach
  • The ability to work onsite and contribute to a collaborative small-office environment
Exposure to AI design tools would be advantageous, particularly where they support presentation quality, creative concepts or client-facing visuals.

What’s on offer?
This is an opportunity to step into a varied and highly practical design role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with a supportive, down-to-earth team and play an important role in keeping design and production moving smoothly during a key period for the business. This role would suit someone who enjoys technical design, merchandise, apparel, production detail and working closely with people rather than designing in isolation.

If this sounds like the right next opportunity for you, please send through your CV and portfolio, or email Alexandria Craig on alexandriac@sde.com.au and I would be happy to share further details.
