Location: melbourne
Job Type: permanent
Salary: Competitive

About the company
An exciting opportunity to join a leading FMCG manufacturing business located in Melbourne’s western suburbs. With a highly engaged and diverse workforce, this organisation has a strong national presence and key focus on continuous improvement, and developing its people.

About the role
This is a hands-on frontline leadership role overseeing maintenance activities across a primary western suburbs manufacturing site, while also supporting two additional nearby facilities.

The Maintenance Coordinator will lead a team of around 9–13 trades (mechanical and electrical), supervisors and contractors, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of plant equipment and facilities.

Key to success will be shifting the maintenance culture from reactive to preventative, embedding consistent planning processes, and driving the adoption of the CMMS (Guardian) across the team.

This is a role where you will be visible on the shop floor, coaching, setting the standard, and fostering strong engagement across your team. You will also contribute to strategy, capital works planning, and equipment replacement projects, while building close working relationships with operations leaders.

Skills & experience
We are looking for an adaptable leader who can operate effectively in a multi-site environment and bring a blend of technical expertise and people leadership. Your skills and experience will include:
  • Relevant trade qualification - ideally with a mechanical background
  • Proven leadership experience in a maintenance or reliability-focused environment
  • Experience with rotating equipment (separators, decanters, screw conveyors) highly desirable
  • Background in FMCG, chemicals, oil & gas, or other high-standard manufacturing industries
  • Strong coaching skills and the ability to develop a diverse, multi-skilled team
  • Hands-on approach combined with the ability to contribute to long-term maintenance strategy
