New Victorian State Director appointed

Six Degrees is excited to announce John Whitehead as the new State Director of its Victorian business.

The promotion of former Victorian Director Suzie McInerney to Chief Executive Officer in February 2019, created a vacancy for the lead role for Six Degrees’ largest state division.

While heavily invested in supporting the development and promotion of key talent from within, the Board of Six Degrees undertook an internal and external process to confirm an appointment given the business-critical nature of the role. Having completed that recruitment process in late March, a unanimous decision was reached by the Board promoting John to the State Director role.

John has stepped up from his previous role as Associate Director and head of the Supply Chain and Engineering business in Victoria. John had also been acting in the role of Interim Director since Suzie’s promotion earlier this year.

After joining Six Degrees in 2014 as Manager - Supply Chain and Procurement Manager, John grew the business effectively over 5 years, cementing Six Degrees position as a leader in its field within this highly specialised area.

John emerged as a prominent leader in the business and as such was promoted to the role of Associate Director in 2016.  John also took on the management of the B2B Sales team in 2018 which is also tracking very positively as a result of his strategic and people leadership strengths.

Reflecting on the appointment, John said, “Six Degrees is a great business, it’s been a fantastic 5 years and a privilege to lead such a talented team here in Victoria. With a clear growth strategy and focus on retaining and developing the current team, our future looks bright! A huge thank you to the Board and consulting group for their support and faith in me stepping into this new role.”

“John is widely recognised internally as a natural and charismatic leader, a cultivator of strong, long term client relationships and for his ability to deliver positive commercial results, making him well positioned to lead our Victorian business through its next phase of growth,” says CEO Suzie McInerney.
