About the Role
The State Sales Manager is a critical and senior leadership role within the national sales team. You'll play a key role in leading and mentoring a high-performing sales force, growing market share in your state, and delivering outstanding results across the four solution pillars:
- Engineered Building Products – Frame & truss systems and Builder solutions
- Automation Machinery – Empowering customer production efficiency
- Software Solutions – Driving smarter operations through technology
- Professional Services – Enhancing productivity and customer success
Responsibilities
As a senior member of the leadership team, your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and motivating the state sales team to achieve and exceed targets
- Developing strategic sales plans and managing execution to meet financial objectives
- Building and nurturing strong relationships with key accounts and high-value clients
- Delivering accurate sales analytics, forecasts, and reports
- Coaching and mentoring staff to support career growth and performance
- Ensuring deep understanding of products, solutions, and value propositions
- Collaborating cross-functionally with departments such as Engineering, Software, Marketing, HR, and Finance
- Maintaining an effective CRM strategy (Salesforce), identifying key accounts and growth opportunities
- Representing the business at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions
- Promoting continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- A proven track record in senior sales management roles, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or a related industry
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to engage in strategic business conversations
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills, including with senior decision-makers
- A collaborative leadership style with experience managing high-performing teams
- Deep knowledge of market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics
- Experience with CRM systems, sales reporting, and analytics
- An adaptable, customer-focused mindset with a passion for innovation and growth
- Confidence and gravitas to represent the business as the state’s lead brand ambassador
