Part of a global business valued at USD $6 billion our client is a renowned household name and has a rich history in Australia having launched in the 1940s and remaining a family run entity until 2013. Manufacturing locally in Australia and exporting to over 70 countries globally their business is now achieving global revenues of over A$250million and employs over 500 people in Australia and New Zealand.
The business has fostered a culture of collaboration, values alignment, results orientation and customer focus, combining the best of a family heritage with strong commercial leadership and a growth mindset. They have a commitment to innovation, sustainability and making a difference in the broader community.
As a part of their continued growth the business has now decided to bring some of their communications in house and as such are seeking a seasoned Communications Manager to join the team on a part time basis, either 3 or 4 days a week subject to experience.
The Role
As Communications Manager you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications plans that enhance the company’s reputation, foster positive relationships and ensure consistent messaging both internally and externally. You will manage all communications channels, create content, oversee media relations and support with the organisation’s goals through effective storytelling, brand positioning and forging strong relationships with leaders across the business. Reporting initially into the HR Director, your time will be split across both internal (30%) and external communications (70%) and include both the local and global brands.
The Person
Opportunities like this rarely come up. If you are seasoned communications professional and are looking for a part time opportunity with a fantastic business, then this could be for you! Ideally you will have operated within a business in the consumer durables, hardware or construction space and will be a strong writer. Key to your success will be to quickly understand the dynamics and the culture and bring this to your work, ensuring that the tone of all communications and content reflects not only the brand but the warm, family friendly, non hierarchical culture. You will be able to work autonomously but will enjoy being part of a large organisation, and will be proactive enough to develop relationships across the business independently.
If this sounds like you and you'd like to have a confidential conversation please apply or feel free to reach out to Rachel Shermer on rachels@sde.com.au.
