About the role
The Marketing Director at Trader House is responsible for setting and delivering the strategic direction of the group’s marketing function - ensuring all efforts are aligned with business goals, the different brand identities and world class standards we strive for. This role leads the marketing team across strategy, execution, and day-to-day management, and acts as a key bridge between marketing and other business units including operations, kitchen, guest services, and retail. It requires a mix of high-level thinking and hands-on leadership, with a strong ability to prioritise, get on-tools, and deliver. The Marketing Director also oversees all marketing budgets and reporting frameworks, manages agency and supplier relationships, and provides creative and brand direction across the group in line with the vision of the Directors, Group GM and SLT.

Key responsibilities
Strategic Direction
- Develop and refine the overarching marketing strategy for the group and individual businesses.
- Ensure marketing initiatives directly support business objectives, guest experience, and brand relevance.
- Translate long-term goals into actionable marketing plans, campaigns, and priorities.
- Champion a test-and-learn mindset—seeking innovation, creative thinking, and continuous improvement.
- Manage, support, and develop a high-performing marketing team - including effective appraisals, goal setting, and development.
- Foster collaboration within the team and across departments to ensure timely and effective execution of marketing activity.
- Implement clear workflows, meeting protocols, and processes to provide an environment where the marketing team delivers beyond expectation.
- Be actively present in the different restaurants and retail venues.
- Oversee the creative output of the team, ensuring it’s brand-aligned, benchmark quality, and strategically led.
- Provide feedback and direction in line with SLT and Owner vision across campaign concepts, copywriting, design, and content production.
- Work with the marketing and management teams to develop creative ideas and foster a culture of idea generation
- Continually refine and hone the creative identities (TOV, brand guidelines, in-venue collateral etc) of the different brands with a firm view on authenticity.
- Oversee marketing reporting and analysis, ensuring actionable insights are delivered to the SLT and wider business.
- Work with different stakeholders in the business to track activity performance, channel performance and guest engagement trends.
- Set and manage the marketing budget across group and individual businesses.
- Ensure spending is aligned to priorities and deliver strong ROI on all investments.
- Manage external supplier and agency relationships including negotiations, scopes, and approvals.

- Senior experience in marketing roles across hospitality, luxury, retail or entertainment, ideally within founder-led or entrepreneurial businesses
- A strong connection to Melbourne’s creative culture, with the ability to balance brand integrity and commercial thinking
- Proven ability to develop and execute omnichannel marketing strategy across multiple venues or brands
- A roll-up-your-sleeves mindset – comfortable leading strategy while staying close to the work
- Experience in seasonal and event-led campaigns, and confident juggling cross-functional priorities
- A sharp eye for creative direction, tone, visual identity and in-venue experience
- Comfort working with data, digital tools and performance insights to inform decisions and improve guest experience
- Proven leadership of lean, high-performing teams in flat, collaborative environments
- Confidence in managing budgets, supplier relationships and ROI-focused activity
- A deep understanding of reporting frameworks and brand health metrics, with the ability to optimise and innovate
