About The Role
As Assistant Category Manager, you’ll support the Senior Category Manager across the companies three key categories. The role will see you working closely with supporting the Coles and Woolworths accounts in the preparation of major customer reviews, while taking the lead on presenting and representing the business for category reviews with Australian independents and New Zealand retailers. You’ll adapt strategy for the independents channel, shape the approach for the NZ market alongside the local country manager and account team, and contribute insights to NPD stage gate projects and revenue management initiatives. Travel will be required a few times per year to support Metcash and NZ stakeholders. Alongside this, you’ll provide regular reporting, analysis, and commentary to the corporate grocery team, helping to ensure that strategies are data-led and commercially focused.

Skills & Expertise Required
We’re seeking a commercially minded candidate with assistant category management or analyst experience in FMCG, and some exposure to customer-facing work. Strong analytical skills are essential, including the ability to interpret data from Circana, Nielsen, or similar. You’ll be comfortable juggling multiple projects and confident in translating data into actionable insights. Success in this role will come from being a self-starter who’s proactive, accountable, and solutions-focused, with the interpersonal skills to build strong cross-functional and customer relationships.
