We're thrilled to be partnering with a leading ASX-listed FMCG manufacturing business to recruit for a permanent Production Manager role based in Timaru, New Zealand. As a recognised leader in its field, our client supplies a wide range of industries, including stockfeed and aquaculture.


About the Role

Our client is seeking a Production Manager on a permanent full time-basis. Where you will be responsible for the efficient and timely processes and output of production. Overseeing planning, coordination and control of production processes to ensure you adhere to production KPI's, relating to quantity & cost. You will report directly to the Site Manager and will look after a production team of ~30, across a 24/5 shift operation. 


Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and internal safety systems, including hazard reporting and incident management
  • Promote a strong safety culture through proper PPE use, risk control, and safe work practices
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate SOPs and ensure staff are trained and competent
  • Oversee performance management, training plans, and resolve conduct issues
  • Manage plant operations, resources, and shutdowns to meet output targets efficiently
  • Analyse performance and drive process improvements in energy, waste, and product quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and support customer satisfaction
  • Meet operational KPIs including OEE, throughput, and delivery targets
  • Support budgeting and capital planning activities
  • Drive team development through coaching and targeted training


Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience leading, managing, and developing teams in a production environment
  • Skilled in production planning, control, and performance measurement
  • Strong knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation and standards
  • Experienced in implementing and working with safety and quality management systems
  • Holds a Certificate IV in Management or equivalent relevant training; strong leadership and people management skills
  • Effective communicator with solid interpersonal skills, organised, methodical, and results-focused
  • Proficient in MS Office and general computing
  • Trained in Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g. LEAN)
