The Opportunity
Our client is a global manufacturing business looking for a Supply Planner to join their team in Clayton on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for a permanent opportunity.
Reporting to the Supply Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the supply of raw materials from local and overseas suppliers, ensuring materials are available to support production and customer requirements.
This is a great opportunity for a Supply Planner with 2-3 years’ experience looking to develop their materials planning and supplier management skills within a global manufacturing environment.
You’ll join a team of 6 Supply Officers and work closely with internal stakeholders across the business. There’s also the opportunity to gain exposure to other portfolios, including PFG and packaging, as part of the team’s flexibility plan.

What you'll be doing
- Manage the supply of raw materials from local and overseas suppliers.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding open orders, delivery dates and material availability.
- Lead supplier meetings as required.
- Review SAP exception messages and adjust delivery dates, including bringing forward, moving out or cancelling deliveries.
- Monitor outstanding orders and follow up on potential supply issues.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and resolve material shortages and inventory issues.
- Lead weekly root cause analysis and 5 Whys investigations, typically relating to out-of-stock situations or excess materials.
- Support inventory availability and ensure materials are aligned with production requirements.
- 2-3 years’ experience in Supply Planning, Materials Planning, Production Planning or a similar role.
- Experience working with suppliers, purchase orders and material availability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exposure to MRP or ERP systems. SAP experience is preferred, but not essential.
- Manufacturing experience is advantageous, although candidates from FMCG and other relevant supply chain environments will also be considered.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
- Initial 6-month contract with potential for permanent employment.
