About the Role: 
The Procurement and Packaging Specialist executes the strategic direction and category strategy set by the business and provides industry analysis, sourcing activity, negotiation, contract management and implementation and supplier relationship development. Working with internal stakeholders, the Procurement and Packaging Specialist also leverages their expertise to develop and support packaging innovation from brief to factory implementation, focusing on sustainable cost reduction and process simplification.


Role & Responsibilities: 
  • Manage the contracts/arrangements with local and domestic suppliers/vendors to achieve strategic outcomes for the business.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to forecast procurement needs.
  • Facilitate the tender and contracting process, including establishment of supplier agreements and purchase order management in line with strategic plan.
  • Cost management to identify areas of potential cost reduction and analyze the impact of pricing changes for goods and services.
  • Monitor deliveries and shipments against timelines and agreements.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and manage their performance. They conduct routine supplier business reviews, evaluating supplier performance and compliance.
  • Identify & lead Sustainable Cost Advantage (SCA) projects in order to drive margin improvement/cost reduction, continuous improvement & innovation within the categories.
  • Liaise with Production, Engineering and Purchasing to ensure new ingredients and packaging can be manufactured efficiently.
  • Liaise with Production, Purchasing and Finance to cost new products/packaging.
  • Source new packaging and raw materials.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop new solutions to support and fuel our innovation pipeline.

Skills & Experience: 
  • Demonstrated (5+ years) buying experience with accountability for large spend across a range of categories.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Packaging, Food Science or related field.
  • Industry experience ideally gained in the fast moving consumer goods industry.
  • Competency in analyzing information, excellent attention to detail - ensuring accuracy in every step and problem solving.
  • Effective quality assurance orientation paired with ability to point to success in realizing significant savings for the business.
  • Proven track record of successfully influencing stakeholder &/or influencing change within a business.
  • Self-Starter with the ability to lead key packaging initiatives and manage multiple projects and commitments.
  • Computer literate with MRPII knowledge and advantage.
