Role Description
The role of the Cost Analyst is to assist the Procurement, Investment and Finance teams by overseeing the financial aspects of all operating expenses, focused on costs of production, across the Group. This includes financial and operational metrics by asset and fruit type, tracking actual expenses and volumes against budget, variance analysis and investigating significant factors influencing financial performance.

Primary responsibilities:
• Develop and implement systems and processes to enable the analysis of operating expense-related financial and operational data at SKU level and deliver accurate and timely reporting daily.
• Provide decision support for Executive Committee and Management by monitoring and reporting on operating expenses financial performance against budgets. Conduct reconciliations, investigate variances and provide trend analysis and insights.
• Provide commentary on periodic reports (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually) and contribute to the budgeting process ensuring compliance with deadlines and standards.
• Provide input to overall business forecasts, identifying procurement and operating expense patterns to inform business cash flow impacts
• Foster productive working relationships with external advisors including but not limited to bookkeepers, accountants, auditors, lawyers, and compliance consultants.
• Assist with the operational, accounting, and administrative matters relating to the company’s schemes and trusts, where required.
• Assist with any potential software changes being implemented across the finance function.
• Work with the finance team to process invoices accurately in accordance with accounting standards and contribute to month end and other year-end processes.
• Assist in developing policies and procedures tailored to accounting and reporting for procurement and operating expenses accurately, efficiently and meaningfully.

Experience & Qualifications
• Demonstrated knowledge and 3-5 years of experience in a related role in an operating business and project-centric environment, ideally with a background in agriculture, FMCG or manufacturing.
• Significant analytical skillset and experience utilizing Power BI, MYOB, Xero, Monday.com or similar is ideal.
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, studying towards CPA/CA or intending to start

Skills
• Understanding of accounting standards and ability to apply them to complex situations whilst also being able to explain them in a simplified manner.
• Understanding of regulatory and reporting requirements across all applicable accounting and tax jurisdictions is advantageous.
• Established business partnering experience.
• Outstanding commercial focus and acumen.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships.
• Eye for detail, advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
• Forward planner with ability to meet agreed timelines.
• Experience with Xero or similar accounting systems is highly desirable.
• Strong Power BI skills including writing in DAX, data visualization and design.
