Finance Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Manager to join our team and drive improvement across key metrics of our rapidly growing business throughout the Australian & New Zealand market.
Job Summary:
As a Finance Manager for our business, you will be responsible for leading the accounts team, inspiring them to collaborate with each other like never before, driving fresh efficiencies and instilling a regular reporting discipline to key stakeholders in the business. Your experience at leading a dynamic business with multiple warehouse locations across Australia and New Zealand, and working with multiple currencies for goods imported worldwide, will hold you in good stead when demonstrating your strategic planning skills to take the business forward. You will work closely with internal teams to develop and execute financial plans, analyse financial trends, and identify opportunities for growth. The successful candidate will possess strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, along with a deep understanding of the import/wholesale industry in Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing a Small Finance Team:
· Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of finance professionals, including accountants and junior staff.
· Ensuring effective delegation of tasks and responsibilities within the team to optimise performance and productivity.
Overseeing and Managing All Aspects of the Finance Department:
· Oversee /monitor daily finance tasks such as bank reconciliations, receivables, payables, and debt collections.
· Ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees on a fortnightly basis.
· Overseeing the preparation and submission of Business Activity Statements for Australia and New Zealand.
· Managing foreign exchange hedging strategies to mitigate risks associated with currency fluctuations.
· Overseeing RA’s claims overview and Claims against suppliers
· Ensuring the timely and accurate completion of the month-end close process.
· Overseeing the preparation and reconciliation of the general ledger and balance sheets.
· Preparing the full company budget, including detailed departmental budgets such as marketing.
· Analysing financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying key variances.
· Providing detailed commentary and insights on variances to the budget to aid in strategic decision-making.
· Developing and maintaining cash flow forecasts to ensure the company has adequate liquidity to meet its obligations.
· Assist with ad hoc finance project

Managing the Company’s Financial Systems:
- Overseeing the implementation and maintenance of financial software and systems to ensure efficient and accurate financial processing and reporting
- Continuously improving financial systems to enhance data integrity and reporting capabilities.
- CA or CPA
- Proven track record of success in financial management, cost accounting, and reporting and analysis within the retail/wholesale/distribution industry.
- Strong understanding of taxation laws and key processes
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to think strategically, analyse data, and develop actionable insights.
- Results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving key financial targets and driving improved profitability across key areas of the business
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with MYOB Advanced and PHOCAS software a key advantage
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite
