Senior Purchasing Officer

Location: melbourne
Salary: A market leading salary on offer + Super + Bonus with excellent prospects for career progression
Job Type: permanent
Contact: Etienne Pommey
The Organisation

You will be working for a large multinational organisation that operate within the FMCG sector who are based in the Eastern Suburbs. The organisation has some very ambitious growth plans, which make it an opportune time to get on board.

The Opportunity

Following a recent promotion of a longstanding employee a new opportunity has been created to support the Supply Planning Manager managing Raw Materials and Packaging as a Senior Purchasing Officer. This is not your run of the mill purchasing role where you would be expected to manage purchase requisitions or purchase orders, you will be working strategically across multiple internal stakeholder groups and with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply and active management and development of supplier relationships. Given the multiple touchpoints internally you will have exposure to many different departments, namely Procurement, Demand Management, and New Product Development

In this role you will be actively encouraged to lead projects, respectfully suggest new ways of working by promoting continuous improvement, and in turn be given the opportunity to make this role your own, make a real impact, and see the difference you can make to the company first-hand.

Skills and Experience Required

This role is one that someone with a solid grounding and understanding of the basics of purchasing/procurement as well as the wider supply chain will benefit from, the exposure and experience you will gain from being given the opportunity to lead on key projects is second to none. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of experience in a relevant role, one that has taught them solid principles, policies, and procedures to follow, as a certain level of autonomy will be required in this position. You will be responsible for managing the purchasing process from end-to-end, hence why those principles are key. Experience from within the FMCG or wider Food industries would be highly beneficial however it is not a mandatory requirement for this role.

What would be highly regarded for success in this position is drive, enthusiasm to learn and grow as well as the ability to bring new ways of working to the organisation and team.
