Six Degrees have partnered with an Australian retail and services business who specialise in all things animal care to recruit a Quality and Compliance Lead for their Ryde, NSW location. This is an office based role with occasional travel to visit suppliers.

The Quality and Compliance Lead focuses on the food vertical and is responsible for the QA and Compliance of their private label co-manufacturers and suppliers. This role will ensure that all private label products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. It will also manage import permit applications and maintenance, and handle customer complaints related to faulty products by conducting investigations with manufacturers and liaising with customers to determine compensation eligibility.

The Quality and Compliance Lead focuses on the food vertical and is responsible for the QA and Compliance of their private label co-manufacturers and suppliers. This role will ensure that all private label products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. It will also manage import permit applications and maintenance, and handle customer complaints related to faulty products by conducting investigations with manufacturers and liaising with customers to determine compensation eligibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with co-manufacturers and suppliers.
- Support Technical manager and consultant with summary of audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Handle customer complaints related to faulty products by conducting thorough investigations with manufacturers, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive initiatives for process optimisation and efficiency within the QA and Compliance department.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure product quality and compliance from sourcing to final product.
- Ensure all products comply with relevant local, national, and international regulations and standards.
- Work with and manage the existing Quality Assurance Assistant.
- Maintain and manage the Quality Management System.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 4+ years’ experience in a Quality or Supplier Compliance role in the Australian food or retail industry.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to pet food products and/or human food products
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Certification in quality management (e.g., HACCP, BRC, ISO) is a plus.
- A love for pets.
