Design Project Manager (Residential Steel Framing)

Six Degrees has partnered with an Australian, Steel Framing design and manufacturing business to recruit a Design Coordinator for their Port Kembla location.

This role coordinates, reviews and approves design projects between the in house and offshore design teams and engineers to ensure quality and precision. It also a pivotal part of the customer experience, providing on the go technical trouble shooting and support to customers who have questions about the installation of the product.

 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and manage the design process from initial concept to final approval, ensuring all designs are accurate and meet project specifications.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, and engineers to gather project requirements and provide design solutions.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed drawings and specifications.
  • Review and approve design documents to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure designs are feasible and optimised for manufacturing.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure that all design milestones are met on schedule.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits as needed to assess project requirements and provide on-site design support.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in steel frame and truss design.
 
About you:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture OR 5+ years’ experience in Carpentry with relevant steel framing project management experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in design coordination/management within the residential construction industry.
  • Experience in CAD-based design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods and building codes.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently manage tasks.
