In order to achieve its potential, Reach now seeks to enhance its leadership strength via the appointment of the new role of Head of Operations. A multi-faceted hands-on role and part of the senior team responsible for steering the company’s future.

Based in Glebe, NSW this role will look after the assembly manufacturing operation there.

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Production / Manufacturing management. Develop the processes, people and practices via a continuous improvement approach, seeking opportunities to simplify a highly complex technology suite to routinely meet sales demand. 
  • End-to-end supply chain management, leading the direction, reviewing and establishing processes, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Procurement / Purchasing. Implement processes to review, assess, manage and direct supplier relationships to maximise Reach’s commercial position while ensuring high levels of quality and service delivery.
  • Supplier Assessment. Take a global approach to parts and component sourcing, gaining a strong understanding of the options; high quality, best fit, compliant and most commercially viable supply chain.
  • Contract Management. Negotiate contractual terms in consultation with GM to drive cost effectiveness and ensure terms are fit for purpose.
  • Establish systems and ways of working that meet complex customer requirements (eg. Defence industry).
  • Contribute to an aligned approach across all business functions, working with colleagues to ensure a smooth transition from design to manufacture to delivery to aftersales support.
  • Office and Facility Management. Oversee the provision of a positive and fit for purpose work environment, including appropriate Health & Safety practices.
  • Take ownership of ISO quality management requirements, promoting the benefits in both good practices and in Reach’s commercial proposition.
  • Reporting of various metrics while utilising these to have real-time sight of departmental performance and to measure KPIs (eg. Production capacity).
Ideal background: 
  • Must have full Australian working rights.
  • Experience and knowledge of precision assembly (ideally electro-mechanical) with strong insights in bringing complex designs into commercial production.
  • A good understanding of supplier management, assessment and negotiation, ideally with global exposure.
  • Export control. A sound knowledge of key legislative requirements and restrictions, and an appreciation of risk and the need to escalate for advice around more complex matters.
  • Health & Safety. Ensure compliance with all WHS regulations.
  • Functional management; gap analysis, resourcing, reporting, strategic and tactical thinking.
  • People Management. Have successfully led a team, delivered change positively and developed people to reach their potential.
