Category Manager - Corporate Services & Marketing
| Location: | melbourne |
| Salary: | Salary dependant on experience + bonus |
| Job Type: | permanent |
| Contact: | Etienne Pommey |
The Organisation
This is a well-established organisation with a significant national presence and a procurement function that is continuing to evolve from a more supportive model into a strategic commercial partner to the business. The procurement team is relatively new in its current structure and is focused on strengthening its relationships with business units, improving early engagement, and delivering greater commercial value across a broad range of spend categories.
The Opportunity
The Category Manager will take ownership of a significant portfolio of spend across Corporate Services, covering approximately $70 million in spend, although a substantial portion is currently considered non-addressable. Much of the activity has historically been managed directly by the business, creating an opportunity for the successful candidate to establish credibility with stakeholders and bring greater strategic procurement involvement to the category. This is a role for an experienced procurement professional who can build strong relationships with stakeholders, identify opportunities for commercial improvement, and bring structure and strategic thinking to a relatively untouched portfolio.
Key areas of focus include:
You’ll be an experienced procurement professional with a strong background across indirect procurement, category management and strategic sourcing. Marketing procurement experience would be beneficial, particularly across marketing services, media, events and entertainment, although it isn’t essential. Experience across broader corporate services or IT procurement, with some exposure to Marketing, would also be relevant. The key requirement is strong procurement capability, combined with the stakeholder management skills to build credibility with a diverse range of business leaders and Marketing professionals.
You’ll be commercially minded, highly capable in negotiation and supplier relationship management, and confident identifying opportunities without waiting for direction. Just as importantly, you’ll be collaborative in your approach, able to influence and bring stakeholders on the journey rather than taking a heavy-handed approach. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a significant and relatively untouched portfolio, helping shape how Procurement partners with the business and delivering genuine commercial value across the organisation.
