Our client is a well-established Australian industrial manufacturer. Following the retirement of a long-standing leader, they are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to take ownership of their maintenance function and continue the site's journey towards world-class reliability.

This isn't a role where you'll inherit a polished system. You'll have the opportunity to rebuild and strengthen preventative maintenance programs, improve equipment reliability and lead a small, capable maintenance team while remaining close to the day-to-day operation.
You will play a key role in supporting production, driving continuous improvement and ensuring the site operates safely and efficiently.
 

The Role
Your focus will be on creating a proactive maintenance culture rather than simply responding to breakdowns.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading and developing a small maintenance team consisting of electricians and mechanical trades
  • Reviewing, rebuilding and continuously improving the preventative maintenance strategy
  • Managing reactive maintenance and coordinating breakdown response to minimise production downtime
  • Driving reliability improvements and identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance
  • Managing maintenance budgets, contractors and spare parts inventory
  • Supporting capital projects, equipment upgrades and installation activities
  • Overseeing site facilities, contractor management and essential services
  • Promoting Lean manufacturing principles, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, statutory and maintenance requirements
 

About You
We're looking for a practical maintenance leader who enjoys being on the factory floor and working alongside their team.
You'll ideally bring:
  • Experience leading maintenance within a manufacturing environment - Industrial / FMCG
  • A strong background and proven experience developing and improving preventative maintenance systems is a must have!
  • Hands-on technical capability with mechanical and/or electrical equipment
  • Previous leadership experience, whether leading a small team or larger maintenance function
  • Experience managing contractors, maintenance planning and maintenance budgets
  • A continuous improvement mindset with exposure to Lean manufacturing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with production and operations teams
Trades or an engineering qualification will be highly regarded.
