Manufacturing Process Improvement Engineer

About the Business
We're partnering with a leading Australian pharmaceutical manufacturer renowned for developing and producing high-quality healthcare products. With a strong reputation for innovation, quality and continuous improvement, the business continues to invest in its people, manufacturing capability and future growth.

Due to the departure of a long-standing team member, an opportunity has become available for a Manufacturing Process Improvement Engineer to join their manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being on the production floor, solving complex manufacturing challenges and driving continuous improvement. You'll work across Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Planning and R&D to optimise processes, improve product quality and support future manufacturing projects.

The Opportunity
Reporting initially to the Manufacturing Manager, you'll spend your first few months learning the manufacturing processes, building relationships with operators and gaining a deep understanding of the plant.
From there, you'll take ownership of process improvement initiatives, working from problem identification through to implementation and measuring project success.
As the business continues to grow, this role offers a genuine pathway into leadership. You'll have the opportunity to lead major projects, mentor junior engineers and, over time, progress into a Technical Manager or Process Engineering leadership position for the right person.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead manufacturing process improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Analyse production data, shift reports and process trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive projects from concept through implementation and post-project review.
  • Improve manufacturing methods, SOPs, batch recipes and operating procedures.
  • Optimise Cleaning in Place (CIP) systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct root cause investigations, CAPAs and process troubleshooting.
  • Update risk assessments, lockout/tagout procedures and manufacturing documentation.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Planning and R&D on process improvements and new product introductions.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Support equipment commissioning, validation and future site expansion projects.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers as the engineering team continues to grow.
About You
We're looking for an engineer who enjoys solving problems, working closely with operators and making a tangible impact on manufacturing performance.
You'll ideally have:
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred), although Mechanical, Process or other Engineering disciplines will also be considered.
  • Around 3-7 years' experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing is highly regarded.
  • Candidates from chemicals, food & beverage or other process manufacturing environments are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong exposure to batch processing or blending operations.
  • Experience delivering process improvements within a production environment.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of manufacturing.
  • A positive attitude, curiosity and a genuine desire to learn and continuously improve.
If you're looking to join a market-leading pharmaceutical manufacturer where you can influence manufacturing performance, lead meaningful improvement projects and build a long-term engineering career with a clear pathway into leadership, we'd love to hear from you.
