About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Trade and Investment Officer to join a Queensland Government agency dedicated to strengthening the state's global economic footprint. This is a high impact, senior leadership role at the intersection of strategy, government relations and international engagement.

You will provide strategic market intelligence, analysis and advice that directly informs the organisation's strategic priorities, lead the delivery of high profile projects and international delegations, and manage key relationships with senior government, diplomatic and industry stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic research and analysis on market policies, government priorities and international opportunities to inform high level advice and briefings for senior executives, the Board and Minister
  • Prepare authoritative briefing notes for international missions, executive engagements and Ministerial level meetings
  • Lead cross functional teams to plan and deliver complex projects, high profile events and strategic initiatives
  • Lead and manage international delegations, overseeing stakeholder engagement to deliver impactful visit programs
  • Deliver strategic support to offshore posts, contributing to mission planning and business plan development
  • Project manage the development and implementation of regional market strategies from research through to launch
  • Represent the organisation on inter departmental, national and industry committees and forums
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders including bilateral chambers, business councils and consulates
  • Maintain accurate and timely CRM records in line with client engagement processes
About You
  • A results oriented professional with a proven track record managing strategic projects, events and initiatives in fast paced environments
  • Demonstrated leadership managing strategic engagement with senior executive stakeholders across government, corporate and not for profit sectors
  • A strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, deep market knowledge and a solid understanding of global trends
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive or ministerial level briefs and delivering presentations
  • Proven ability to navigate government policy and process in the delivery of complex, cross functional and cross border projects
  • Qualifications in international business or a related field, and proficiency in a relevant Asian language, will be highly regarded but are not mandatory
