The role
Our client needs an Inventory Controller to take charge of inventory planning and control. You'll make sure materials arrive on time and to scope, and plan stock against the production schedule so Production never waits. It's a desk-led role built around inventory analysis and planning, with regular time on the floor to keep the system matching what's physically on the shelf. A stores team handles receiving and picking, and purchasing admin is supported separately, so your focus is oversight and control, not handling.

Our client needs an Inventory Controller to take charge of inventory planning and control. You'll make sure materials arrive on time and to scope, and plan stock against the production schedule so Production never waits. A stores team handles receiving and picking, and purchasing admin is supported separately, so your focus is oversight and control, not handling.
What you'll do
- Plan inventory requirements against production schedules and BOMs
- Make sure inbound goods arrive on time and to scope, and chase when they don't
- Keep inventory records accurate in the ERP/MRP system, including adjustments, transfers and item master data
- Monitor stock levels and recommend replenishment actions
- Run cycle counts, coordinate the annual stocktake, and investigate discrepancies
- Track slow-moving, obsolete and excess stock
- Report on inventory accuracy, stock valuation, turns and variances
- Work closely with the Operations Manager, Purchasing, Stores, Production and Finance, and support audits and continuous improvement
- Follow WHS requirements on site
- 2+ years in inventory control or planning in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on ERP/MRP experience
- Experience with stocktakes and cycle counting
- Solid understanding of BOM structures and inventory planning
- Strong analytical skills and close attention to detail
- Good Microsoft 365 skills, especially Excel
- Clear communication and the ability to juggle priorities
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
- Forklift licence (desirable)
- $55 per hour + super, engaged through Six Degrees
- Immediate start, with strong potential to move to a permanent role
- On-site, typically 8am to 4pm
