Location: melbourne
Salary: Competitive
Job Type: permanent

The Opportunity
Our client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of specialist industrial vehicles, with its Melbourne site specialising in industrial vehicle assembly for the Australian market. Following recent changes within the Quality team, a newly restructured Quality function is being built from the ground up under a new Head of Quality, and this is your chance to be part of shaping it.

This is a standalone role reporting directly to the Head of Quality, with genuine scope to influence how quality is governed across the business. You'll join a growing, values-driven organisation at a pivotal moment, with the backing and autonomy to stabilise, structure and build a best-practice Quality Management System from a fresh foundation.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Implementing, maintaining and continually improving the QMS across the organisation's sites in line with ISO 9001 and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Developing, coordinating and maintaining the Internal Audit Program, including process audits and layered process audits at the shop floor level
  • Coordinating certification, regulatory and customer audits, ensuring audit readiness and timely closure of findings
  • Managing the Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes, facilitating root cause analysis and verifying the effectiveness of corrective actions
  • Developing and maintaining quality KPIs, Power BI dashboards and executive reporting to give clear visibility of QMS performance, trends, risks and opportunities
  • Analysing performance indicators such as Scrap & Rework, First Pass Yield, Product Quality Index, Defects Per Unit and Cost of Non-Quality
  • Supporting investigations into customer complaints, warranty trends and production quality issues
  • Supporting product inspection and sample inspection activities, and maintaining quality documentation and records within D365
  • Leading and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business, promoting a culture of quality and accountability
What We're Looking For
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and QMS requirements
  • Demonstrated experience managing CAPA, root cause analysis and audit methodologies within a manufacturing environment
  • Sound knowledge of quality tools and methodologies.
  • Experience developing and analysing quality KPIs, with working knowledge of Power BI and ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred)
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline, along with Internal or Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001 preferred)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations and Service teams
  • A proactive, hands-on and adaptable approach, someone motivated by mechanical and practical problem-solving, comfortable operating in an environment that is still being structured
  • Background in automotive, heavy equipment or a related industrial sector is highly regarded, along with exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
What's on Offer
  • A rare opportunity to build and shape a Quality function from the ground up, with real influence over how systems and processes are established
  • A standalone, high-visibility role reporting directly to the Head of Quality
  • The stability and resources of a global organisation, combined with the agility of a growing local site
  • A collaborative, safety-first culture guided by values of Safety, Respect, Achievement, Accountability and Balance
  • Genuine variety from strategic QMS governance through to hands-on shop floor engagement
