About the company
Paintback is an innovative, independent not-for-profit organisation, backed by the Australian Paint industry.  Their purpose is to extend the circular economy for the post-consumer paint they collect, by investing in research to find new valuable applications and divert unwanted paint and packaging from landfill. A true value chain custodian, their products must produce an environmental benefit to be considered viable. Paintback is establishing a new production facility in West Footscray, which is going through regulatory approvals, and has necessitated the creation of the critical role of HSEQ Manager.

About the role
As the HSEQ Manager you’ll be responsible for the safety, environment and quality of Paintback’s people and product respectively. Critical in the immediate term will be the safe construction, commissioning, and start-up of the new facility, and the responsible integration of more of their supply chain. As a for-purpose organisation that is undertaking significant growth in new operations, there will be an ongoing need to expand and improve their existing HSE framework, systems, processes, and organisational behaviours.

About you
We’re seeking both established HSEQ practitioners from the broader manufacturing space, OR process engineers from a Major Hazard Facility background with a passion for safety.
  • Relevant tertiary degree
  • Experience in a dedicated safety role within the manufacturing industry, or as a process engineer in a Major Hazard Facility
  • Additional safety qualifications would be beneficial
  • Assertive and action-oriented nature – courage to promote behaviour change and drive a safety culture
  • Able to think broadly ‘as an owner’ across the broader business
  • Can engage constructively with everyone from shop floor through to executive, staff or supplier

Why apply?
This will be a rare and fulfilling opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference by playing a critical role in the scale-up of operations dedicated to extending the circular economy for paint.  You will be working with a team of passionate and capable people where your opinions and insight will be valued, where you will make a real difference both within the company and in the environment.
