Fantastic opportunity for a Tech / Dev Lead to join this industry leading technology business based in the south east suburbs of Melbourne.  
 
Our client is a leading Australian technology company that develops software solutions for the retail and manufacturing industries.  With over 4 decades of experience behind them, they are well respected within the FMCG sector.
Small and privately owned, they have an employee headcount of circa 90 staff and have a strong technology roadmap. 
 
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Software Delivery Manager, this is a newly created role that will give you the opportunity to showcase your technical / coding skills, whilst also having the opportunity to lead and mentor a small team of 2-3 software engineers.

Proven work experience as a Full Stack Engineer and/or Software Development Team Lead is required and extensive hands-on experience in .Net Core.  The ideal candidate will also have experience leading software product development teams and an understanding of IOT.
 

 
Key Responsibilities include: 
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the development team (a team of 3-4 engineers)
  • Design, modify, and testing technical architecture of flagship product, ensuring it meets technical standards/guidelines for best-in-class software dev. 
  • Test and integrate program software systems to address and solve specific customer business problems within product suite
  • Assess the systems architecture currently in place and work with technical staff to recommend and take ownership of solutions to improve it and increase value to customers
  • Resolve technical problems as they arise 
  • Continually research the current and emerging software technologies and propose changes where needed to meet software development challenges & opportunities
  • Provide updates to stakeholders on product development processes, as well as any issues with current technical solutions being implemented.  
  • Manage and own activities and decisions that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation. 
  • Develop and execute solutions which further reduce the percentage of time spent on reactive work
  • Provide analysis of security protection technologies as necessary
  • Contribute to technical agility and uplifting competency using collaboration, training, mentoring techniques
 
About you
 
  • Proven work experience as a Solution Architect or similar role leading a small software development team
  • Previous project management experience is advantageous
  • Sound knowledge of various operating systems and databases (Windows 10, Winders Server, *nix, Postgres, MSSQL)
  • Extensive hands-on experience as an Agile solution architect in .Net
  • Relevant programming language skills (C#, Angular, scripting languages, .Net Core) 
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills (software & hardware) 
  • Strong software full development and testing disciplines:
    • Ideation: work on product ideas with key stakeholders and extract requirements of architectural significance
    • Discovery: accountable for solution, recommendation and endorsement process
    • Delivery: work to constantly review the solutions are implemented and required
  • Ability to understand specifications but identify opportunities / weaknesses to recommend improved workflow process 
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science preferred
