Program Manager: Centre for Climate Change
We are delighted to be working with the Torres Strait Regional Authority on a newly created position crafted to support the establishment of the Centre for Climate Change.
The Programme Manager will work closely with the State and Federal Government agencies as well as internal stakeholders providing advice on the needs of the Torres Strait, encourage the exchange of information and knowledge on climate change matters, establish and maintain a mutually supportive governance framework.

The Programme Manager will work closely with the State and Federal Government agencies as well as internal stakeholders providing advice on the needs of the Torres Strait, encourage the exchange of information and knowledge on climate change matters, establish and maintain a mutually supportive governance framework.
About Role:
The Program Manager will be responsible for:
- Driving the strategic direction in the design, development, and delivery of climate and related Whole-of-Government policy. They will work closely with the Interim Steering Committee, Governance Committee and other key stakeholders in the development of the Operational Plan.
- Leading a team of policy and technical specialists to consult and collaborate with a range of stakeholders to support of the design and establishment of the Centre.
- Host targeted roundtables and visit adaptation sites to support the Department and Interim Steering Committee in forming the vision and developing the Centre’s Operational Plan.
- Lead and manage a team of staff in a dynamic work environment and growing the policy skills and leadership capability of team members.
- Prepare a range of complex briefing and other materials on climate policies and action led by the Torres Strait Region and contribute to TSRA planning and reporting.
Selection Criteria:
- Proven program delivery skills.
- Strong leadership skills, and a commitment to staff development and wellbeing.
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to brief senior executives and ministers within short time frames.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation, and engagement skills, possessing significant experience in developing effective networks and building productive relationships. Achieving our objectives is dependent on leveraging the work of others, and your ability to influence and build productive working relationships for mutual benefit will be critical.
- The ability to navigate complexity and uncertainty with personal drive, sound judgement and integrity.
- Strong ability to maintain awareness of the climate policy environment and identify opportunities and risks; and
- The ability to contribute to the leadership of the Centre and work with the Government to deliver their climate adaptation agenda.
