The Company

Leading global manufacturer of mechanical, electronic and pneumatic components. The primary customer base is the rail and mining industries. Based in Western Sydney, the site is a manufacturing and service operation with 180 employees onsite. This is an assembly, workshop, industrial manufacturing type of environment. The volumes are very much project based. There is also a large service component where customers will send back train components for repair, service and overhaul.

The Opportunity

You will be looking after the “General Refurbishment” team. You will have 30 direct reports to look after in this role. Your team will consist of skilled workers working with tools and on technical mechanical and electronic components. The focus of this role is for someone to be a true people leader, who knows how to delegate, and get their team together to achieve results. Due to the technical nature of the products that come through this section of the factory, you must have strong resilience and able to work through ambiguity as it comes up.
  • Supervise a large multi-skilled team.
  • Campion and drive productivity improvement programs.
  • Ensure on time completion of work in your section.
  • People management responsibilities including recruitment, approving leave requests, performance management, training etc.
  • Run daily planning meetings.
Skills and Experience Required
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in a leadership role, within an engineering, assembly, service or technical manufacturing division. If you have been in a mechanical or heavier type of industry working with metal fabrication, assembly or electromechanical products this environment would suit you. This role will not suit you if all your experience has been within FMCG.
  • Industry background we are targeting anyone from a service industry (e.g. HVAC, refrigeration, automotive) or manufacturing (electromechanical or pneumatic products)
  • Understanding of how to identify and drive a continuous improvement project.
