This privately owned SME food manufacturer is a producer of premium food products that stand out in their category for their high quality ingredients. They have excellent relationships with retailers who value their ability to turn around innovations quickly and at a high standard, and having flexibility to produce across small or large volume. The business has been a success story under new leadership over the last few years and they have line of sight towards doubling their annual turnover with both local and export markets growing substantially in that period.

About the role
As the Technical Manager you'll lead their established Quality and Innovation teams - it is the point of accountability for all QA, NPD, Food Safety, Regulatory & Compliance. In this newly created role, the mandate is to raise the bar for QA and NPD outcomes, and to enable to the business to be more proactive, and to set a longer term strategy upon which to execute. This role is a part of the senior leadership team and reports directly to the CEO and you will be dealing with business owners.

About you
We are looking for someone who approximately fits the below:
  • Degree qualified in food science, food technology or related discipline
  • Strong experience managing a QA function within the food manufacturing sector, at a single site level or above
  • Experience as a supplier to the major retailers
  • Experience leading an NPD team would be highly regarded, though not strictly necessary
  • Can maintain positive and productive relationships with everyone from the shop floor, to the executive and the owners
  • If not living in Geelong, the ability to relocate to the region
